Al gets her dream job but is left burnt out, miserable, and she attempts suicide. She moves from London to San Francisco in search of fulfilment. However, she obsesses over the arrival of letters addressed to Alice. Meanwhile, she finds herself in a soulless job, no happier than when in London. Her mental state declines, and she believes she’s being watched. Eventually, she is forced to face her unhappy past in London and realises a disturbing connection to Lewis Carroll's muse ‘Alice.’
