Tempest Rising

Two runaways in different cities face near-death experiences. Older boys try to jump Tate on a San Francisco pier. She moves her hands and calls to the fog. Someone shoves Avery onto the subway tracks, but just before the train barrels into him, he channels the power in the third rail. Each finds a mentor who must teach them how to use their newfound power, and soon both teenagers are on a collision course to learn the truth about the nature of the world and themselves.
