Xander Marcuson began writing long fiction recently, having had some success with short stories, and having previously published and edited technical non-fiction. Xander and partner once lived in the high country of southern New Zealand, the setting for most of this novel. Although now settled by the sea, they are always drawn back to the high country - and to other, faraway, magical landscapes.
