I have lived in Britain for more than three decades, but I grew up in the Caribbean. I am passionate about bringing Caribbean culture to a wider audience, to paint an image that goes further than the old Harry Belafonte image of the happy, dancing Caribbean. My work is rooted in the folklore of the islands because that is where the authentic Caribbean culture lies. No matter your social or racial background, everyone in the Caribbean feels the folklore and acknowledges it.
