London, 1880. Music-hall’s newest star is found drowned in a dock after a sensational debut as ‘Dorothea’s Ghost’. Dock messenger Ernest seizes the chance to investigate. His old friend Dobbs tries to keep him out of trouble as his new friend Daisy introduces him to a world of retired whalers, fake spiritualists and theatre managers who can’t keep their hands off the girls. Together, they try to work out who they can trust, who is lying, and why they keep being followed by sinister limping man.
