2015 - When Emma Huntleigh finds a photo of a pilot, she longs to find out his story. Her grandmother introduces her to a historian who offers to help her investigate. But then he inexplicably disappears. 1940 - Alex Renton is sent to reconnoitre what life is like on the Channel Island of Jersey under Nazi occupation.
