Firebrand

Queen Basina’s kingdom is threatened by an undying sorcerer king with an undying army. Rather than seek out a Chosen One, or a muscular man with a sharp sword, she asks the help of a cunning female con artist and illusionist, Veleda Skylark. The undying Sorcerer King Alaric is smart enough to use his sorcery to do an augury when Veleda Skylark will try to kill him. It says she never will. Skeptical of the result, he repeats the sorcery, with the same answer. Clearly, she never will.
