When her boyfriend says she’ll never write a novel, let alone become a prizewinning author, local reporter Ness Lambert joins a writing group to prove him wrong. But there she finds herself increasingly obsessed with somebody else's work-in-progress: story instalments that seem to feature a real little girl – who’s in danger. As she investigates what this ‘novel’ reveals about its author, Ness starts to uncover some surprising truths about herself.
