I went to university to study creative writing which led somehow to my becoming a professor of English literature - i.e. doing tons of reading, and writing academic books which weren't quite what I'd originally had in mind! Loved all that until a very strong urge to write a novel has returned in my early 40s and continues to drive me forward.
