I write Young Adult fiction shaped by the streets of South Africa and the lives we pass without seeing. *Street Wars* was inspired by two street boys I encountered as a teen —faces that stayed with me long after the traffic lights changed. I began writing at eight and published poetry as a teen, but stopped for a decade after a life-altering event silenced me. A vivid dream brought me back to this manuscript. I’ve returned to the page with clarity, urgency & a story that refused to stay silent.
