I am a two-time TEDx speaker, featured on the “Today” show, whose career as an environmentalist informs my creative writing. I hold an MA in journalism, an MFA in fiction, and have published in the Washington Post, among others. I've published the Good Newsletter since 2008, now on Substack, where I also share my Instagram Live author-interview series and podcast. I mentor young writers through 826LA, host the monthly Santa Monica Silent Book Club (join us!) and lecture at UCSB, my alma mater.
