I am a sixty-year-old working-class man who left school at sixteen with an O Level in English language and a few CSE’s. The only subject I enjoyed at school was English language and writing stories which were always praised by Mrs Smewin, the only teacher to give me positive feedback and encourage me. I self-published a collection of short stories in 2016 titled The Tube. In the past, I wrote for my stand-up act and sent a few comedy scripts off to the BBC with no success.
