My parents' wartime service—RAF airframe fitter, WAAF mechanic—gave me stories that refuse linear telling. My work circles back, just as memory does: a smell, a sound, and suddenly 1943 bleeds into today. Decades in policing, magistracy, local government, education, and election observation taught me that truth emerges in fragments and contradictions. I write the ground perspective—ordinary people in impossible moments—via a structure that mimics how we actually remember: in loops, not lines.
