The first book I read myself led to the first book I wrote—My Dog Pepper. I didn’t have a dog; it was a work of fiction. I haven’t stopped since. Along the road, I’ve been studying and teaching English Literature (in caps, if you please). I harbor fantasies about the future and the past, write as if magic and fantastical creatures were real and briny as pickled herring, mix people who truly lived with people who didn’t, and love a good metafictional mirror.
