I'm a full-time writer and have been for many years. I've some 50 books behind me as a poet, a writer of fiction and non-fiction, and as a children's author. I've huge experience of giving readings and talks, and of working with youngsters in schools. I've written and presented numerous essays and features for BBC Radio. My wife and I live on the Scottish west coast and I grew up in Highland Perthshire; it's the wilds of nature that inspire the lion's share of all my work. I love what I do.
