I wasn't always a writer. As a kid, I wanted to be a Pokemon trainer. Sadly, my pikachu never arrived, so I decided to set more realistic goals instead. Either I'd should be the next great Buzz Lightyear, Sherlock Holmes, or Indiana Jones. Only later did I realize that space terrifies me and mysteries confuse me; meanwhile, picking through dust and old bones... well, that's rather dull. However, writing allowed me to do all those things vicariously -- no dirt, puzzles, or aliens required!
