A small boy grips a giant pencil Father Christmas left in his stocking and starts to write in the big spiral notepad he also found there. He’s three years old, what he calls ‘writing’ is a series of incomprehensible curling loops... That compulsion to write has never left me. Now in my mid-seventies, I'm a published writer and poet with a great deal of life and writing experience under my belt. Born and raised in Birmingham, I now live in Brighton with my wife and Wilson the golden retriever.
