I started writing seriously when my mother died and I found myself wanting to tell the stories of ordinary lives like hers that go unnoticed. I joined an all-women writing course which taught me so much, then went on to gain a Creative Writing MA. My short stories have appeared in several publications. I co-founded The Blue Room, a performance space for women writers, and have run creative writing workshops in Newcastle upon. Two of my favourite writers are Katherine Mansfield and Anne Tyler.
