I was born in 1953 on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Having a violent and abusive father, I left home at sixteen and drifted around Australia through the late 1960s and early ’70s. Those years carried me into drug addiction, crime, and prison. By twenty-one I had been imprisoned three times for selling marijuana and heroin. These experiences left scars but also gave me stories worth telling.
