I'm a native New Yorker, educated at Reed College and Brandeis University (Ph.D.) My jobs have included stints as an au pair, dog walker, artist's model, medical editor, and ESOL teacher to immigrants in Florida. My novel, "The Girl Pretending to Read Rilke," was chosen by Kirkus Reviews as one of the 100 Best Indie Debuts of the Year in 2019. Currently I'm writing full-time in a small town in rural Maine.
