Recently I retired and found myself in possession of something I hadn't had for decades: time. Time not just to rest, but to notice. I found time to watch the world more closely, and what rose to the surface was a growing unease about the system we live in and the people it leaves behind. If I cannot change the world, I can at least write about it. Using fiction as resistance I can remind us that it doesn't have to be this way.
