In 1961 and then for the next 18 years I was employed at the South African Sugar Association Experiment Station at Mount Edgecombe (KZN), first working in the Agronomy department and then in the Biometrics, computer and records department. During my youth I was founder member and secretary of the Muslim Youth Movement in Tongaat and Trustee and secretary of Buffelsdale Muslim Society. In the eighties I owned a chain stores of Bakery and grew up Apartheid South Africa.
