Ana Garcia has left New York City to become police chief on the remote Massachusetts island of Athray. No sooner has she arrived than she is presented with her first case - a woman missing. The boyfriend remembers a trip to a mysterious pier restaurant, somehow artificial and alive at the same time. A pier restaurant which Ana quickly learns doesn’t exist. As the investigation takes her deeper, she sees that the troubles reach beyond the laws of nature into a world of secrets and folklore.
