Jen poses as a writer and applies to Lucidious, an enigmatic artist retreat where creativity is studied like a science, hoping to understand what happened to her mother there a decade earlier and why she returned no longer afraid of death. But when she is instead invited to enter the memories of Lucidious’s comatose co-founder to write her biography, she realises that the research reaches far beyond creativity—and that its true purpose may explain far more than what happened to her mother.
