When a graphic novelist returns to her working-class hometown after twenty years overseas, she is drawn into the past to solve a Tudor mystery and unmask a predator. Life soon imitates art, and the woman’s research is overrun with memories of her own past, when her only friends were the animals of the fields and hedgerows around her town, a town that hasn’t changed since its medieval origins. Driven to finish her book, she finds help at the tip of her pencil.
