Burdened with the death of his infant daughter, the young Cillian has fled the city to Australia’s timberlands in a quest to forget his sins of failed fatherhood; in search of the river of forgetfulness, the River Lethe. Cillian meets others dealing with the loss of a child though not by death. It is 1948. The war is over, but for many it continues. His new friend Harry has lost his nephew to the Aborigines Act. And Margaret - wife of the ex-POW Cillian boards with - is struggling to survive.
