It’s a novel attempt to get away not with murder, but procrastination. Like a murder investigation, it pursues several lines of inquiry. Rather than plot development, there are intersecting points of interest. It aims to create an extensive zone of interest, despite incorporating a number of incident-free zones. It doesn’t lack direction; it boasts a plethora of directions. Suspense derives not so much from speculation about what'll happen next but what form further procrastination might take.
