From the moment Cedar Lindstrom watched Hayley Wickenheiser clutching her 2010 Olympic gold medal, she’s dreamed of playing hockey for the Canadian women’s team. But there's a problem: new to Canada, she doesn’t know how to skate. After forging an unlikely friendship with former NHL player Ernie Badcock, he begins teaching Cedar at night in the swamp behind his house—the same spot where a young boy was found dead two years earlier.
