Noemi Gunea

Iulia is thirteen in Bucharest, Romania in the early noughties. Grieving the sudden death of her best friend, she ends up drunk in the British Council library and discovers books and films as a way to stay alive. As her imagination sharpens, Iulia begins to look outward, using her deep connection to culture to find the possibility of another life, testing how far a young girl can travel without yet leaving home.
