How far would you go to win over the woman you love? As stage manager for a play about the history of East Upbury during the First World War, Toby meets Sarah, a visitor who has offered to help him. When an actor fails to arrive for the final performance, Toby has a chance to save the day and impress Sarah before she leaves the village forever. By turns tragic, comic, historic, and pastoral, The Woman in the Wings shows that a tragic history can sometimes repeat itself as romantic comedy
