The Kohinoor promises immortality to all who hold it. And destroys those who believe in it. Patrick has long been infected by his Anglo-Indian grandad’s tales of imperial romance. The old man’s suicide doesn’t break the spell. Patrick inherits a map, a remnant of an Edwardian expedition explaining the diamond’s curse. He recklessly follows it. Chasing the legend from Iran to India, he echoes the emperors before him: men transfixed by a myth, their lives worth telling but not worth living.
