In the slums of Branis, beggar leader Mas finds Lint, a blind woman with scorched eyes and no memory. She is the "Beloved," a figure of power fueled by love. As spectral Riders spread a lethal plague of "Cold Light," luring victims with a beauty that kills, Lint leads an Army of Sun—soldiers blinded in one eye to resist the lure. Bound by magic, Mas becomes her eyes and heart. Together, they fight a war for souls against a light that promises only death.
