Reasonable Doubt

Reasonable doubt is meant to protect the innocent. Gus Vane uses it to protect the guilty and to make the truth look “unclear” until everyone stops reaching for it. In this world, nothing is evil unless twelve strangers agree it is. Gus doesn’t need to kill anyone to leave bodies behind. He trains monsters to speak like men. Maybe the worst people in the room aren’t the ones doing the killing. Maybe it’s the ones helping them walk free.
