'LET'S PROMISE THAT WE WILL NEVER TOUCH ALCOHOL' Some promises are uttered frivolously and broken repeatedly till their meaning loses relevance, while others become an abiding credo for a lifetime. For Mithu, 13, and Chotu, 10, their promise to abjure alcohol is not vacuous words, it imbues them with a sense that their life would turn out better than their alcoholic father.
