Pellegrino's Last Prayer
Pietro Smith's ghost endures in Rome. In purgatory he is a tour guide with occasional sojourns into a transcendent netherworld. He meets an exorcist, Fr. Pellegrino who harbours a delusional belief that he had discovered a time machine. The two distressed souls confront each other's demons and are each thereby released from eternal damnation. Pietro, we learn was a laicised priest, apparently committing suicide after a romantic tragedy and alienated by how his true love could ever be sinful?
