NEEMA cover

NEEMA

In the rural outskirts of Tanzania in the late 1970s, disappearance is not an event that invites questions. It is absorbed into daily life, endured like hunger, illness, or grief. After her mother-in-law vanishes, Amina begins to change. She pauses before speaking, lingers in doorways, and sits at dusk in the old wooden chair, rocking as if waiting for something to return. Her movements echo those of the woman who is gone, as though absence has left behind a body to be inhabited.
