National Treasure Hunter

The novel is a dark comedy set in late-2000s London, focusses on the inept fortunes of antagonist Martin Mulpetre, a junior writer at a media company who specialise in celebrity obituaries. When royal-adjacent celebrity Lady Eleanor is found dead, National Treasure Media become the keepers of her legacy, and, through their own self-interest, continue the hyperbolic coverage, fuelling performative sorrow, anger and eventually speculation that ‘they’ aren’t telling ‘us’ ‘something’.
