For the Love of Alison
by Sahlan Diver

MOTHER HOUSE is a hybrid; a travelogue memoir with a novel running throughout. A story of adventure, obsession, mental illness, trauma, lost years and recovery but most of all it is about love in its many forms. In 1978 Marianne leaves before her wedding and catches and overland bus to India. In 1997 Sister Marie-Agnes prepares to leave the convent she has lived in for eighteen years. These two women are connected by the contents of a trunk and the shared memories of a long forgotten past.
