When 17-year-old Matt Steele declares he is the only real human being on the planet, friendships shatter, and his abstract solipsism becomes actual isolation. Matt finds solace in the ministrations of an unorthodox priest, and friendships with a musical genius and a gay teacher. When they write, produce and perform an updated HAMLET set to Bowie's music, Matt is seriously injured when a rigged stage prop collapses. Friends old and new join to find the culprit and bring them to justice.
