Joshua knows two things: he is queer, and his salvation depends on erasing that fact. At his religious college, community and condemnation are two sides of the same coin. Expulsion and hellfire await anyone suspected of homosexuality. To survive, Joshua must meticulously perform piety, seeking favor and freedom from his own desires. Within the cult, his journey to assimilation is surveyed, his actions bound by invisible strings, and hell found on earth.
