Ballybrone seems like such a peaceful place, where nothing much happens. But when the evening comes, a shadow creeps up the valley, and the minds of the villagers turn to their inner ramblings and historical grievances. Told through the eyes of eleven characters, Ballybrone reveals the violent psychology of village life. The suicide of a young woman triggers a crisis in the community that builds up throughout the novel and is finally released in a dancing mania that spirals out of control.
