Dodie only joins the cohort her abusive mother is in to bargain for her sister. When the cohort uncovers evidence of an unethical experiment--and plans to recreate it--Dodie realizes she was never intended to leave alive. As they peel back the past of the woman running the cohort, as well as what remains of the research, they soon find themselves entangled in a secret society, an experiment that demands their blood, and an ancient creature that will take pieces of them in exchange for power.
